"The lens seems to be glass and the height is just right for reading-environment though it took a while to get used to moving it to read but the 5x magnification is excellent. Also this is great for map reading-environment or looking at coins & stamps. It takes ordinary batteries and flashlight bulbs so simple upkeep when necessary.
