Have you ever been taking a warm shower and gotten blasted with scalding hot water because someone else in your home turns on a cold water tap? Or does your shower water feel fine as you begin only to get hotter the longer you bathe? Both of these scenarios can put you at risk for a serious burn.
The average water heater is often set at 120º or higher. This is too hot for direct exposure to skin, so it is usually mixed with some cold water to make the stream safe. Unfortunately, if the cold water is suddenly unavailable there isn't anything to moderate the water temperature. The HydroGuard® is a scald guard that monitors the shower's water temperature and reduces the water flow to a trickle if it is hotter than 115º. Once the water goes below that temperature again, the shower will automatically return to a normal flow.
The anti-scald device twists on between your existing shower head and the pipe. The scald guard only interferes with the normal flow of water to the shower head when the temperature is too high. The temperature of shower water can fluctuate for a number of reasons and may become hot enough to burn you. With the HydroGuard® high temperature shut-off device installed, you can be confident you are protected against a sudden burst of hot water. |  |
