Interactive Sound Puzzles from Melissa & Doug®

layers of reinforced learning to puzzle play.

We could hardly stop playing with these interactive peg puzzles long enough to tell you about them. Place the pieces correctly in the puzzle board and you will be rewarded with an appropriate sound. (Meow!) While the player is rewarded for correct placement, they are learning about cause and effect as well as sound associations.

The Musical Instrument Puzzle plays Old MacDonald. As you place an instrument in the puzzle, the song is played by just that one instrument. For example, only the trombone plays the melody.The instruments are displayed in full color on the pieces and the puzzle base has a silhouette of the instrument. Color recognition can also be used to match the pieces to their appropriate spots: the background color on each piece matches the color of the silhouette on the base.

The Pets Sound Puzzle associates realistic animals sound with the animal on the piece. (In case you're curious, the goldfish makes water bubble sounds.) The animals are displayed in full color on both the pieces and the puzzle base.

 The instruments on the music puzzle are a trumet, guitar, harmonica, piano, xylophone, violin, tuba and drums.
The pets on the puzzle are a horse, parakeet, guinea pig, mouse, frog, goldfish, dog and cat.

The speaker is imbedded in the puzzle board. 2 "AAA" batteries ( not included) are tucked away in a compartment that is screwed shut. No tiny parts for curious fingers to get in trouble with.

As with all Melissa & Doug® Puzzles, the pieces are well made with no sharp edges. The inside edge of the peg handle is metal and activates the sounds.
