General Info

Rest easy. You will know immediately if you are needed!

The Smart Caregiver Alarm System is the first truly flexible monitoring system for a home or small facility. It doesn't replace supervision, but it does provide audible notification of certain events (e.g a door opening). This Alert System is configurable for your needs, while economical for your wallet.

At the heart of the system is the receiver; a volume adjustable Cordless Alarm (DL2390). The receiver does not come with a transmitter - they are all sold separately so you can mix and match to suit your needs. There is no limit to the number of these devices you can use can signal the alarm, so you can have multiple alerts all sent to one receiver.

Here is a list of transmitters that are compatible with the Alarm System:

  • Nurse Call Button (DL2390-NC): The call button can be worn like a pendant using a lanyard string (included) or can be mounted on a bed or nightstand using the enclosed adhesive tape. To activate the alarm, press the button (requires slight, but direct pressure). After pressing the button, the alarm will sound and must be turned off manually at the receiver. Maximum range to alarm/receiver is 150 ft.

  • Motion Sensor (DL2390-MS): The motion sensor detects motion within its infrared field and reports movement to the alarm box. Placed at the bedside, you will know when the resident moves out of the bed. Placed at a doorway or entrance, the motion sensor will alert you to potential wandering. The maximum range to alarm/receiver is 300 ft.

  • Exit Alarm/Wander Alarm for Window or Door (DL2390-EX): This two piece monitoring unit can be attached to any door or window frame (using the included double-sided tape) to alert you if a loved one or patient attempts to open or close a door or window. To activate the alarm, simply touch the two parts of the Exit Alarm together. The alarm will be activated whenever a change in the connection of both sides takes place - either coming together or separating (ie, opening or closing). The alarm must be reset manually at the receiver. Maximum range to alarm/receiver is 250 ft.

  • Smart Ghost Cord® Bed Sensor Pad: Available in two sizes: 10" x 30" (DL2390-RI) or 20" x 30" (DL2390-WI). This pressure-sensitive fall alert pad can be placed on a patient or loved one's bed either under the mattress or under the sheets. Placed under the shoulders and upper back, you can immediately know when the person is sitting up in bed. Placed under the lower back and buttocks, you will know whether the person has risen from the bed. The alarm will sound within 3 seconds of their departure (allowing some time for reseating). The alarm will turn off again once the person has resumed their position or the alarm has been manually turned off. A great fall detection, fall prevention and wander alert device. Maximum range to alarm/receiver is 150 ft. (All pads are disposable and are intended for only 90 days of use.)

  • Smart Ghost Cord® Chair Sensor Pad (DL2390-GC): Place this 10" x 15" pad on a chair seat or back and you will be notified immediately if your patient or loved one gets up from the chair or falls. The alarm will turn off again once the person has returned to the chair or the alarm has been manually turned off. Maximum range to alarm/receiver is 150 ft. (All pads are disposable and are intended for only 90 days of use.)

Nurse Call Button - White with Green Print
Motion Sensor - A white box with an infrared light
Exit Alarm - Two white boxes that send an alert when they are seperated.

Smart Ghost Cord 10 x 30 Bed Pad
Smart Ghost Cord 10 x 15 Chair Pad

All alerting devices (transmitters) can be used simultaneously within the same home or facility. However, when the alarm is triggered, it will not be possible to tell which monitoring device has sent the alert. (If you need a monitor that can tell you exactly which alarm has been set off, check out the 30 Channel Nurse's Call Station.)

The Alarm Receiver can be mounted in a central location or carried with you from room to room. At 5" x 3.5" x 1.5" it is too big to put in your pocket or on your belt but it is lightweight and easy to carry. (Please test the effectiveness of the Alarm in each location you want to bring it to before you rely on it to notify you.)

At last! A real system in a small, affordable package!

DL Note: This system is not designed to replace good caregiving practices and supervision.

How It Works

The Smart Caregiver Patient Alarm System is easy to use. Three steps are all it takes to install a new level of safety in your home or small care facility.

  1. Prepare the receiver: Place 3 "C" batteries (not included) into the battery compartment in the back of the Alarm unit or plug in the included AC adapter. Then use the switch on the side to turn the receiver on.

  2. Prepare the transmitter(s): Either put batteries into or connect the transmitter to the monitoring device that is best for your situation.

  3. Program the receiver to recognize the transmitter(s): Press the Record button on the back of the receiver (using a pin) and activate the monitoring device one time. (Activation method depends on device.) The two outer lights on the receiver will flash once to confirm programming.

The Cordless Alarm can be wall mounted using the included screws and recessed mounting holes. Place the Alarm unit where:

  • the caregiver will most readily hear it.

  • it can be easily reached for manual resetting. (Resetting is done by turning the unit off.)

  • it is in range of the monitoring device. Maximum range for each device is listed in the "General Info" tab, however this can be affected by physical and environmental factors in your setting. Please test the product where you plan to use it to ensure sufficient signal strength.

Please Note: This system can receive alerts from several different transmitters, but it cannot tell you which of them has been activated. For this reason, the Patient Alarm System will work best when used for one person and / or room If you need to monitor multiple patients and know exactly which alarm has been set off, check out the 30 Channel Nurse's Call Station.
