Magnification of 5X to 9X can change your outlook on life!

The Shoppa is an electronic reader that magnifies between 5X and 9X. It has a small detached camera and a 3.5" x 6" color screen that shows what the camera sees. The Shoppa is portable so it can be used for many visual tasks around the home and on the go!

Hold the camera close (within 2" or so) to the material you need magnified and it will be presented on the screen. Lighting is not an issue, because the camera has a high intensity light built in. Printed material varies in size, so the Shoppa has a ring around the camera lens that lets you manually adjust the magnification. This means that you will be able to see anything from newspaper articles to labels on cans. You can also adjust the brightness and the contrast of the image to clarify the image further.

(Please Note: When the print displays on the Shoppa screen, it is very large. Depending on the size of the original font, you may not be able to see a full column on the screen, but only a few words at a time.)

Leave the Shoppa on your desk or take it out with you as you go about your daily chores. Here are some possible uses for the Shoppa:

• Sitting at a table, the camera can remain attached to the viewer. This lets you:

  • Read by sliding the unit across the page.

  • Place the camera over your stamp collection or a recipe card.

  • Write a note or sign a check. Position your arm on the table next to the viewer and your hand so that the point of the pen is under the camera. This way of writing may feel uncomfortable at first, but with practice it will feel more natural.

• Detach the camera and hold it in your hand to view a prescription bottle or skim a dictionary. (You can use the stand on the back of the Shoppa screen to position it upright on a table.)

• If you are at the supermarket or peering into your cupboard, you can hold the screen in one hand and the camera in the other to view what's on the shelf. The cord on the camera stretches comfortably up to 15". (For an item that is out of reach, it might be better to put it on a lower shelf or in the front of your shopping cart while you read.)

• Read the program at the theater, menus at a restaurant or filling out a form at the doctor's office.

This portable electronic magnifier comes with a rechargeable battery that gives you up to 4 hours of reading time. The Shoppa provides a very different way of looking at things and you might need to give yourself some time to explore your options. However with a little experimenting and some practice you will find what works for you.
