Set-up is easy. There are no codes to enter, just press a couple of buttons and the Tek Pal will set itself. In minutes, it will be ready to work with most TVs. (This remote can be used with a cable ready TV, but not with TVs that use a converter box. Please see the "Specifications" tab for more compatibility information.)
The buttons are straight forward and easy to differentiate. Triangular buttons represent the channel up and channel down functions as well as the volume up and volume down. The mute is a square button and the power button is round.

| Compatibility (other devices) | Works with most TVs. The exceptions usually include uncommon brands and extremely recent models. Can be used with a cable ready TV, but not with TVs that use a cable or satellite box or a digital-to-analog converter boxes. According to the FCC, "If you have one or more televisions that receive free over-the-air television programming (with a roof-top antenna or "rabbit ears" on the TV), the type of TV you own is very important. A digital television (a TV with an internal digital tuner) will allow you to continue to watch free over-the-air programming after February 17, 2009. However, if you have an analog television, you will need a digital-to-analog converter box to continue to watch broadcast television on that set. This converter box will also enable you to see any additional multicast programming that your local stations are offering."
