General Info

We have searched for a completely hands-free telephone but have yet to find one. However, we do have products that will allow you to operate a phone with minimal physical interaction.

The Voice Activated Phone System is used by many quadriplegics because it combines the following products:

1) Voice Activated Speaker Phone (Sold separately as DL1010)

  • When the telephone rings, just say "hello" and the phone is answered. The conversation then takes place over the speakerphone because there is no handset.

  • The Wireless Remote that comes with each system resembles a computer mouse.You can make calls up to 15 feet away from the phone. Please remember that this is a speaker phone, so the further away you are, the more you have to project your voice.

  • This speakerphone comes with a Wireless Remote Switch that turns the phone on or off (like taking the handset 'off hook'). The remote is a large, highly sensitive button the can be positioned where ever you need it.

  • In addition, an optional Air or Pillow Switch can be plugged directly into the Speaker Phone or the Wireless Remote Switch. (See the Accessories tab for more information.)

2) Your Choice of Voice Activated Phone Dialer

  1. The Infinity Vocally3 Voice Dialer allows you to dial by name or a spoken telephone number. (Item # DL1072)

  2. The Freedom Vocally 3 Voice Dialer allows you to dial only by name.
    (Item # DL1074)

Each Voice Dialer has the following features:

  • Each retains your phone numbers and names.

    • The Infinity holds up to 45 names in addition to the digits 0-9

    • The Freedom holds up to 60 names

  • Phone numbers programmed into the dialers can be up to 45 digits long to accommodate international calls.

  • Programming is easy. Just follow the voice prompts for adding or deleting names and numbers.

  • Voice Activated Phone Dialers are "speaker dependent" (trained to hear a particular voice), allowing for better speech pattern recognition.

  • The small Voice Dialers install between the telephone and the wall jack, just like an answering machine.

How It Works

  1. The Speaker Phone is programmed to dial # (pound) as a default (the # activates the Voice Dialer).

  2. Dialing out is initiated with the included Wireless Remote, or an optional Air Switch or Pillow Switch.

  3. The Voice Dialer asks, through the Speaker Phone, "Name to dial please".

  4. The user says "Joe Smith", for example, and the Voice Dialer dials Joe's pre-programmed number.

  5. End the phone call with a touch on the Remote or Pillow Switch or a puff of air on the Air Switch.

Accessories

The Air Switch is an 18 inch tube that can be placed where you need it. Air Switch: Operate all the functions of the phone by simply blowing on the air sensor - including placing a call! This no-touch 18" switch snaps easily onto the rear of the phone or into the wireless remote control and provides the ultimate in accessibility!
DL1011
The Pillow Switch is a very sensitive button that is soft and covered with fabric. Pillow Switch: Control phone functions by gently touching this switch with your chin, arm, leg or other body movement. It plugs into the phone or into the wireless remote control for your convenience. Switch is 3" diameter and the cord is approximately 6 feet long.

This headset is white with black cushions for your ears and a flexible microphone that you can position in front of your mouth. Head Set: This head set with flexible microphone and padded earpieces plugs into the phone, providing more privacy for personal conversations or business calls. (Cord is approximately 15 feet long.)

This simple lapel microphone is white and gray and attached to a 6 foot long black cord. Lapel Microphone: This highly sensitive microphone clips to your collar and provides hands-free, crystal clear, high fidelity sound for people who have weak voices. (Cord is approximately 6 feet long.)

Specifications

Special Notes

  • Voice Activated phoning requires a strong voice, therefore this system is not recommended for soft speakers. In this case, the auto-scanning speed-dialing feature should be used instead.

  • Voice activated phoning should take place in an area with minimal background noise. Loud TV's or stereos can interfere with both answering the phone and using the Voice Dialer.

  • The set up for this system can be challenging, but once it is done, day to day use is easy. (Dynamic Living customer service representatives can provide you with technical support during the set up process.)

  • If you have a DSL connection through your main phone line, you will need two filters for this phone.
