General Info

A properly installed grab bar should be mounted directly into
structural blocking. But what do you do if that's not available?
The alternative is the WingIts Permanent Fastening System.

The WingIt is like an oversized molly bolt. With 5/8" sheet rock (common in commercial facilities), no blocking is needed, which means there is no need to tear open and reconstruct existing walls, saving time and money.

In residential installations, it is still preferable to have blocking if you are installing over ½" dry wall. (WingIts alone with ½" drywall will only hold up to 250 pounds).

However, installation over ceramic tile, tub surrounds, or marble do not require blocking and can handle up to 800 pounds.

The base has holes to accommodate various flanges.

  • Waterproof seal incorporates 3M VHB® Tape.

  • Can be installed into sheet rock, ceramic tile, tub surrounds, marble and plaster.

  • Installs in only 10-20 minutes.

  • Includes one (1) WingIt bolt (not a pair), but does not include any screws for affixing to the grab bar.

"I found the WingIt to be very effective in the installation of two grab bars that I installed in a tiled shower enclosure. However I think that they are overpriced at $25 each. The grab bar was half as expensive as the two required WingIts were. Also I think a tool should be designed to be able to check the inside of the wall for clearance to studs to allow for wing expansion." J.K., Oakland, CA
